My Mood: Points: 3,311.21 Bank: 54,085.51 Total Points: 57,396.72 | I absolutely LOVED Yasmin! It was absolutely wonderful. I took it for a very long time (couldn't tell you exactly how many years...I believe around 4 or so). I had SOOO much more energy with it. I was so much healthier on it than any other BCP I had tried. I never had an acne problem, and Yasmin never caused any acne for me. My weight fluctuated while I was on it, but I was also on it in my mid-late teen years when weight is weird anyway and I was doing a lot of working out which causes weight fluctuation...but it was never by more than a few pounds and I NEVER became overweight on it. I was always VERY healthy and active. Actually, on Yasmin I was in the best shape of my life. But...keep in mind, we all react to medications differently so your results might vary from those of some of us. Good luck in your quest for a good BCP!!!

My Mood: Points: 3,311.21 Bank: 54,085.51 Total Points: 57,396.72 | Cheech:: I took Yaz after my m/c to regulate my cycle before trying again. It's good because it treats more than the normal stuff...it helps more with mood swings and such...but it didn't help with my weight gain. I gained a lot of weight after the m/c...well not a whole lot, but a lot for me. That had nothing to do with the Yaz though...that was hormones...The Yaz just didn't help. But as for any negative side effects...I had none. All positive...& I LOVED the shorter periods! It was great!

Yasmin has been the only birth control I was ever on, but it did not really help me, and I HATED the side effects. I would have diarrhea for some reason, really bad mood swings, I gained A LOT of weight, my periods were STILL irregular...it was a mess, and I was on it for almost a year and a half! The one GOOD thing was that my acne cleared up a bit, but that did not compensate for any of the other side effects. Everyone is different, so it depends on your own body to see reactions to Yasmin, but if it works, why not try it!
Good luck!!! |

That has been my luck though with all birth controls I have been on except the DepoProvera shot. I would go back on that but I want to TTC and I have endometriosis so I have alreay a ton of estrogen in my body... so any more estrogen makes me sooo emotional!!!

My Mood: Points: 515.64 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 515.64 | On Yasmin for 4 years.... Yasmin was God sent!....It was perfect for 4 years, but 2 months before I got married I noticed that everytime I started a new pack I got a yeast infection...not a pleasant topic, but a reality!...So when I got married I stopped the pill and TTC...but that didn't happen. My doc said go on the pill again to try and trick my ovaries...!!!!
The trick was on me...the best conclusion we can come up with is that I conceived a unviable pregnancy, which wasn't detected by hpt or blood work, and the yasmin caused HORRIBLE cramps for 1 month til I had my first cycle.
Since then, I've tried yasmin off and on for a few months, but had lots of problems...but now it's no on yasmin forever for me!....But everyones different!

My Mood: Points: 3,475.30 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,475.30 | I was on yasmin for years it helped my skin clear up, but also gave me really thin hair on my head. i had really thick lovely hair before that and it just all fell out slowly to where i would look in the mirror one day and it was paper thin like paper no joke. well it also gave me really bad anger and depression. and then it gave me panic attacks and i had to temp. go on paxil. then it finally gave me a potassium imbalance , because i worked out while on it like an athlete, couple hours a day, you cant do that on a diuretic, yasmin has a diuretic in it like spiro. but everyone is different and you can never know how you will be on it untill you try it. now im on marvelon and its giving me deep sore acne cysts

With Yasmin, my periods were very heavy, a little lighter with Yaz, but still heavier than other BCP. |

My Mood: Points: 580.15 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 580.15 | I was on Yasmin for a while...two years with a few empty months in there: I did pretty well on it, I think. I felt pretty much the same as when I started, except now I get a period. Didn't help reduce my facial hair growth at all though, which was a little disappointing. |

Points: 1,399.27 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,399.27 | I didn't gain any weight, and my face was clear. But I had severe mood swings, depression issues and my breasts felt sore. I felt like I wanted to jump off a bridge, and there were times where I felt a slight cramp around my breast. Due to this, I had to get off of it. Just my personal experience.
Cheech, Yasmin has 30 mcg of ethinyl estradiol (estrogen), which is fairly low dose but there are some lower dose estrogen BCPs out there...if that's what you're looking for (ex. Alesse, Mircette, Yaz, Cyclessa, etc.) |

My Mood: Points: 24,015.02 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 24,015.02 | Yasmin gave me heart palpitations like crazy. It also made me pee every 5 minutes and made me feel really hyper like I'd be drinking coffee all day. When I told my doc about this she said that she hadn't heard of it causing heart palpiations before, but I had found a website with at least 50 or so women complaining of the same thing- so it can't be that I'm just crazy! She also said that she knows of a few doctors who went on it and couldn't stand it either while at the same time she knows of a lot of women who it's done wonders for. I guess it all boils down to everyone being different.

It also gave me heart palpitations. Id have one about every other day or so. They would always scare me. I never thought about it being related to the yasmin. But i didnt have them before i started the pill so it makes sense

But then again, I suppose, whenever you mess with your estrogen it will effect your hormones in some way or another...

My Mood: Points: 2,438.19 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,438.19 | I took Yasmin for about a year. In the beginning, I loved it, but after 6 months or so, it totally screwed me up! I literally felt like I was going crazy....crying all the time, shaking, heart palpitations, fatigue, chest pains every day, massive anxiety and sore breasts. Needless to say, it was a nightmare...
I'm so glad I finally got that out of my system!
