I know, I've probably posted something like this before but i've been on Yasmin for a while now (years) and the price has more than doubled since I started it. It was $30 when I started and today when I picked it up I couldn't believe it was $70. Yasmin has really helped me with my acne and hair issues and I love it but I don't know how much longer i'm going to be able to afford it. I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything I don't that could help me out. (How to get affordable healthcare, an alternative medicine, or anything at all that could help me out) I read that generic Yasmin won't be available until at least 2013 so that isn't an option.
HOLY CRAP. When i was on yasmin(last year) it was 20$ I switched over to Diane 35 because yasmin did nothing for me, and I was on it for over a year. And even Diane isnt that much. Its 45$ (12$ because im on a plan) But wow. What a diffrentce it makes living in Canada

Feeling your pain...with copays for two of my drugs (and two free because they're generics), it's killing me. If I could go back on BCP again, I'd have to make the decision to get generic regardless of what worked best, because of the cost!

Depending on how comfortable you are with ordering online, you could switch to buying your prescription that way. Personally, I used www.inhousedrugstore.com for nearly 8 years to buy my Diane-35 (just went off to TTC) at a much reduced cost and the service was flawless. I would buy 6 months worth of Rx at a time. Never got an order late and they don't require a prescription. I just ordered my pills and brought them in to my doctor to make sure it was exactly what I needed before using the website regularly.
If you don't like InHouse, I'm sure there are loads of online sites that sell Yasmin at a reduced rate. Just make sure you show the pills to your doc to make sure you are dealing with honest vendors. Maybe I'm just the paranoid type, but that's what I did to make sure I was getting good product before committing to a online pharmacy.
I saw Yasmin on InHouseDrugStore, $60 for three months supply.

I hear ya. I love Yasmin but $160 for a 3 month supply--I couldn't wing it anymore. I can now get a whole year's worth @ Family Planning for that much $ but then again I make crap for pay so it works in my favor.

I asked my dr recently if I could switch from Yaz to a generic and she said yes because there is really no evidence that Yaz or Yasmin helps any more than another pill. I'm not sure if I totally believe that but I couldn't afford the Yaz any more either so I was willing to give something else a try. So, now I am on generic Ortho cyclen, first month, and have had no problems. I was worried about switching because I had bad acne when not on Yaz or Yasmin but have not had any breakouts yet. You can get the generic Ortho cyclen for $9/month at WalMart. I get 3 months worth for $20 due to my insurance.

I've been thinking about using a legal Canadian Pharmacy. It's crazy how I can get a 3 month supply there with what I pay for one here. I just don't know what a good one to go to would be. I don't understand how the price could go up like this in such a short amount of time. I paid like $8 more this month than last. mandi, that ortho cyclen lo for $9 sounds awfully tempting. I wonder if it would work just as well. I think Yasmin is supposed to be different than any other pill out there. I had pretty bad acne too before going on Yasmin and also hair issues. Yasmin has been a life saver for me. I wonder if all I would really need is a different pill.... hmmm...
Thank you so much Lisa - yasmin jumped from $35 to $69 / mo! I am going to try that site. Did your pills look the same as they did from the USA? I was always nervous about getting fake/wrong pills so glad I have a site recommendation

Actually, the pills I took were not from the US or even approved in the US at all, so there was no comparison to a US packet I could make. I started them while out of country anyway. However, when I bought them living in the US, I took them to my doctor to get them approved and that worked out well. Packaging changes all the time, as long as the pills look the same, the expiration date was good and my doc approved them I was happy.

Yasmin arrived today (a little over a week wait - amazing) and they look good - just different packaging, but exactly what the non us ones look like online. Comes out to $19/month - compared to $69! Thanks again L for the tip. Not only is it a huge savings but I don't have to bother submitting letters and claims to my ins co. (which still wouldn't end up this cheap)
