Has any experienced a decrease of shed and regrowth on yasmin?I know this is an old question but i have a script along with Provera since i havent had AF in 5 months. My T is elevated and my shed has really been bad lately. With my hair falling out as much as it is I dont know if i have anything to lose.I am 36 with 2 kids and would take it to override my wn bad hormones. My LH is 4 times higher than FSH.Any advice please??!!
I have definitely noticed a decrease in shedding and increased growth of my scalp hair. I've been on Yasmin for one month and been using Nioxin shampoo/ conditioner for 3 months. I had previously been on Yasmin for 3 years then went off for 9 months. During those 9 months, I lost alot of scalp hair and my testosterone levels rose. I also notice an increased sex drive while on Yasmin !!! While I was off, I never wanted sex!! Good luck!

Be careful of taking provera. Provera is a progestin that is derived from testosterone so it could definitely make your situation worse. If you have to take a progesterone - take prometrium as it is closer to the real thing. I would try yasmin over provera though...at least yasmin is anti-androgenic and could help you...
Yes, Provera can make your hair shed more and has some risky side effects. Prometrium is generally considered a better option.
One of Yasmin's listed side effects is actually hair loss. While I was on Yasmin, my scalp was super sensitive and tender. I was on it almost since it was introduced to the market by the way. After stopping Yasmin, the scalp sensitivity suddenly went away. You see, you can become estrogen-dominant on BCP which will make hair loss matters only worse. I second that the effects are different for each person. It's a difficult decision but if you feel you must take a BCP, why don't you take a brand that has been tried and tested? You can't even find a 10 year clinical trial on Yasmin.
All BCP's list hairloss as a side effect.i will wait and see and report back.I think I may have a fighting chance since I have Male pattern loss and elevated T.We'll see...
gosh melissa, i just started feeling better reading this thread seeing some hope at the beginning, now its dashed again.
my hair situation is such that, i am not sure if i should take a chance experimenting with a BCP, the question "whats to lose" doesnt necessarily apply in my situation.theres lots more to lose, if the bcp actually triggers more hair fall.
pls let me know if you find anything positive for the hair in relation to yasmin.
