First I have to tell you I love your avatar.
I have taken Yasmin since January when I was diagnosed. I was also surprised (and happy) when I started my period during the first pack. My period lasted the whole week of inactive pills, but it was my first period in about 4 months. Since then my period as started the 4 or 5 day of inactive pills and lasts about 3 days. I have gotten a period every month and it is awesome. I know that may sound odd, but it makes me feel normal. TMI warning: I used to get my period randomly about 4 or 5 times a year. I never knew when it was going to start and then all of a sudden I would get horrible cramps, be an emotional wreck, and soak completely through a heavy duty pad or tampon in less than 2 hours. When you teach kindergarten this is really not an option.
Since taking Yasmin, not only have my periods been better, but my face is a lot clearer. My old boss (I have a new one this year), tells me all the time how much clearer my skin looks.
If you just started taking Yasmin in July I would give it at least until September, and if your symptoms don't improve I would talk to your doctor. Usually you should give it at least three months, until your body adjusts.
I also take Spironolactone which is an anti-androgen and it helps with the acne, and also with excess hair growth. It is also prescribed for hair loss, but thankfully I don't have that problem.
