I just started taking Yasmin almost a week and a half ago. I have been having some weird cramping and today felt pretty nauseuos in the morning.
Can someone give me an idea of what the side effects are supposed to be like? I have read the insert and all of that - just curious to see what otehrs have experienced.
I am also on Metformin and Aldactone.
Thanks!

Hey!
I am only on Yasmin, no other meds at this time. I had the same thing happen when I started Yasmin about 3 weeks ago. I felt like I was having a period for about 17 days. I had light bleeding, but mainly it was the cramping and the pain in my lower abdomen. The nausea was so bad that the elevator ride to my office made me feel like I was going to get sick!
ANyway, you are not alone Cyster. I talked to my doc and she said that this could last up to a month or more, but that Yasmin was by far the best med for PCOS'ers and that I shoudl stick with it.
So, I have. I am feeling better this week, the spotting stopped, but the mornings I still battle with nausea and I have abdominal pain on occasion.
I wish you luck!
Hang in there!

For three years. I feel so much better physically taking the pill. It took a while though for my raging hormones to settle down. I had the nausea also, still do at times but give it some time to help you. It took at least three months for me. I was also raging hungry...at first. I also take Glucophage XR (generic Metformin ER) and I take the met in the a.m. and the pill before I go to sleep at night. That helps alot with the side effects. Good luck!

I've been on Yasmin since I was diagnosed in 2001 (I just quit to TTC). I used to take it in the morning and the first few pills of every pack made me feel nauseated for the entire day. I started taking my pills before bed and I didn't really have the problem after that. I didn't really notice any other side effects (unless I had some and didn't realize they were Yasmin side effects ).
some other side effects are that you pee alot more, are thirsty more, since it's like a diuretic, and for me, I've had headaches/sinus pressure in back of eyes, and I've been really tired. Don't know if I'm going to mush on with this, or switch-I'm on my second week of second month. Good luck

I was nauseous for 3 weeks straight everyday on yasmin. I would throw up when I brushed my teeth. I couldn't deal with it. My dr called me in a prescription for alesse today. I haven't picked it up so I don't know how that's going to work out for me.
For 2 years now since I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2002....and it's the best med I've ever been on.
I originally was experiencing the nausea when I took the pill in the morning. Now, I take the pill at night after I eat dinner: No nausea. Took about 3 months for my body to adjust to the med. The increased urination is due to the pill having a diuretic portion in it. (My GYN explained that Yasmin is specifically designed for PCOS.) The urine does have an odor and that fluctuates. And my PMS has improved (my husband is thankful for that!)
Also, in the 2 years I've been on it, I've lost 35 lbs. (Walking & watching carbs has helped too).
