I have read that Yasmin contains about 25mg of Spiro? If this is true, then would the Dr. be able to Rx a dosage to make up for the rest of spiro needed to get you started? Has or is anybody taking Yasmin and Spiro at the same time? and what are you dosages. Or have you had a Doc tell you NO on taking both at once for some reason or another?
I was on 200 mg per day of spiro with Diane 35 (when I lived in Canada). When I moved to the US, I had to switch bcps so I asked for Yasmin. My doc didn't think I needed to drop the spiro dosage, so I've stayed on the same amount. I believe that Yasmin doesn't actually contain spironolactone, but the action of the drospirenone (in Yasmin) is equivalent to 25 mg of spiro (or something like that). I feel fine on both. I guess that, relative to the 200 mg I was already on, an extra 25 mg per day wouldn;t make much difference.
Good luck to you!
Janet

I take 100 mg per day of Spiro, and have been taking spiro for over a year. I started Yasmin about 3 months ago. The combination has done great things, like lower my blood pressure, regulate my AF, decrease unwanted hair, no weight gain, etc. According to my doctor, they actually complement each other!
I am sure most of you research for your own tx (treatment) as I do. Sometimes it is hard to find a Doctor or specialist to work with you on these snesitive and complicated issues of our disorder. I find that I get the best information from the cysters on this site. We are in a way a Massive controlled experiment if you think about it. Thank you for the post.
