Posted this in BCPs, but its kind of quiet over there.
I have been on Yasmin for over 1 year with no problem.
However, I do have some bleeding that starts on day 14 of the packet and continues for a couple of days. Not really heavy, just annoying. Anyone else get this?? I am going to the ob/gyn in about 2 wks, but I am a little worried.
I thought at one time that I have read a fair number of posts with women saying the same thing...
Just wanted to give you a bump! I'm almost jealous; I'm just starting the sugar pill week of my 3rd pack of Yasmin and have not had ANY Bledding at all. No AF! Dr. said to call her if at the end of this week I had not started and she will order bloodwork.
But, I do remember reading posts about mid-cycle bleeding. So, I guess they are there somewhere.
Hope someone can help.

I was on Desogen for 6 or 7 years and very often had little or absolutely no flow for mths on end. From what I know of BCPs, I don't think its a problem. The pill prevents buildup of uterine lining,so it is almost always lighter than usual. In some cases there is no flow. I watched a program on Discovery Health channel about how the pill works and they explained that women become too hung up on having a menstruation during the pill cycle. When, in fact, since no egg is being released, there is never any real menstruation. The program confirmed that often no lining even builds up.
So, I envy you. I am sick of the spotting and bleeding. Since it is cyclical, I believe that it is the pill and prob not something bad. I think it may be happening because I stayed continously on the active pill for several cycles. I sometimes do that because I don't like the way I feel on the inactive.
RunningGirl, Sounds like you are having breakthrough bleeding which is common on the pill. Since you always stayed on the actives and never let yourself have a period, it is not really surprising, but you should talk to your doc anyways to calm your fears. I had bleeding for 2 weeks out of 4 during my last few years on the pill. The doc tried changing it, added estrogen, progesterone, d+c, nothing worked. Now I'm off it, but on met. I ovulate, but my period is still 12 to 16 days long! I'm getting a bunch of tests now to figure out what is going on... It's no big surprise that I'm anemic.
