Thumbs down thanks

Yes I have been on Yaz I am on my 4th pack, the first 3 months I struggled with crying and irritability but I did lose weight and my pms symptoms were much better. This month I have noticed gas pains and diarrahea after almost every meal, I beginning to blame the Yaz but I am not sure.

Sounds like YAZ is a little too low in estrogen for your body. Maybe the sister pill Yasmin? It has 35 mcg of estrogen, YAZ has 20. Progestin is the same.

Where do you find the DCI???

Yaz and I weren't friends either. I knew within the first two weeks- I was having crazy dizzy spells and had to lay down for hours at a time. When I had withdrawal bleeding a few day later after stopping it, I again was super dizzy and afraid it would happen at my sis's wedding. Yuck Always read the insert and don't be afraid to call the pharmacy if you have questions later

Question Yasmin...

I just started taking Yasmin a week ago. I have been extremely tired all week. I'm totally dragging but and Have almost been late to work all week. Until today I showed up to work an hour early!! I didn't even realize until a co-worker told me. Yasmin is making me loose my mind! I'm going to see my dr tomorrow to talk about it.

Dear ladies,

I'm new to this forum. I just registered because of this very thread popping up in my search for information on the new scare being spread about Yaz/Yasmin. I don't have PCOS, but my family has a very consistent history of fibroid tumors in the uterus. It hasn't skipped anyone in my family yet. :\

My boyfriend had seen a commercial on TV talking about how Yaz was having some terrible side effects on women and was concerned because I take it. I've been on it for almost a year now and it has been the best decision I've ever made when it comes to medication. I'm 20 years old and have suffered from severe PMDD since I was 11. I have acid reflux and IBS, but neither were affected by Yaz. I did gain like maybe 5 lbs. when I started, but lost them soon after my body adjusted to the pill. I have virtually painless periods, my acne has been reduced, and of course I'm crossing my fingers that it'll prevent pregnancy. Despite my sensitive digestive system, I suffered no symptoms. No headaches, no nausea, no diarrhea, zilch. I do my best to eat healthy, I'm not on any other medications, I don't smoke, and rarely drink.

Despite the fact that I've been perfectly fine, I wonder if it would be safe to continue taking the pill, given that everyone has said such bad things about it. I do like to take the most natural approach to medicine as possible and Yaz is the only time I break my natural remedy diet.

How do you think Yaz will affect someone that will be prone to fibroid tumors in the future?

I think it's like most birth control pills -- if it's working for you, it works for you. The one GOOD thing about Yasmin in my book is that you'll know pretty quickly if it's the wrong pill for you. I went on it and I had the worst depression of my life -- I was completely hopeless, would cry all the time, even at work, and was so tired I couldn't sit up straight. Thankfully I had mentally reminded myself when I started it that if I had different troubles, to think first if it could be the pill. I went right back to the doctor and changed to a different one, and my problems went away very quickly.

If it's been working for you, I wouldn't sweat it. There are risks with any BCPs, so if you've found one that works, stick with it. Personally, I think Yasmin is the work of the devil...

I just wanted to add my Yasmin stroy. I started it when I had my youngest who is almost 7 yo. I took it so I would only get 4 AFs a year - continuously for three months and then off for a week, etc. At first I was ok, then I started having breakthrough bleeding which is kind of common when doing the pills like that. About three years ago I started getting pain in my lower right abdomen that got worse about 3 months ago. I had an US and they found uterine fibroids and an enlarged liver. I have had fibroids in the past though - long before I started the Yasmin so I don't really think that the Yasmin caused that. But I started thinking back to when I started it and actually I was dx with post partum depression and put on Zoloft. I am wondering now if it was actually the Yasmin. Interesting...I do know that it seriously effected my libido! I have been off it since July 4th and it has been wild! Versus at least 3 years with nothing. Just interesting...

I forgot to mention that I developed high blood pressure after being on Yasmin for about 3.5 years and before my bp has always been kind of low or normal even when I was pg. Now I am wondering if it caused that too....hmmmmmmm...

Default Yaz Side-Effects

I see that people are discussing some of the side-effects and problems they’ve experienced while taking the birth controls Yaz and Yasmin. There are actually hundreds of lawsuits now that were filed by women who believe they were seriously injured from taking Yaz or Yasmin. Many of these women suffered blood clots, strokes, pulmonary embolisms, as well as a number of other health problems. There's a blog named Yaz on Trial that has more information about the lawsuits and some more background information on Yaz and Yasmin.

BCPs are not for me in general. They all affect my mood so badly.
Right now i am on the generic of Yasmin, Ocella. I find it strange that my doc put me on it after telling her that Yaz made me mean and moody. So then she put me on Ocella. They are the same except for one little thing. I have to take my last pill of the 4 months tonight and couldnt be any happier. But at the same time i am worried because last months and this months AF is so much different than the 2 before. They were both heavy than the ones before and having lots of clotting. Since starting my new GYN i have had 5 pill induced AFs and i had breakthrough/withdrawal bleeding which was my fault.

Did anyone have heavy bleeding and clotting while on Yasmin/Ocella and then come off of it and it not be bad anymore?

Thanks

I just wanted to say that I had ZERO symptoms of PCOS before I started on Yasmin. I was 19 at the time, so I had a good five years of normal cycles, normal teenage break outs (no cystic acne), normal weight. I took it for five years (during which I had some serious struggles with my weights which I was eventually able to control with a very strict diet), and went off this past January. I immediately started to notice symptoms (acne, irregular menses, and anovulation). I obviously can't prove causation. Even though I cannot definitively say Yasmin caused my PCOS, I can honestly say I truly feel it has. If I had to do it again I would have never went on Yasmin or any BCP (esp as long as I did). I realize it's not proven, but no one really knows the cause- who's to say it isn't environmental (and possibly the long term use of BCP)?

This is an excerpt directly from the Yasmin pamphlet:

Oral contraceptives have been shown to cause glucose intolerance
in a significant percentage of users. Oral contraceptives containing
greater than 75 micrograms of estrogens cause hyperinsulinism,
while lower doses of estrogen cause less glucose intolerance.
Progestogens increase insulin secretion and create insulin
resistance, this effect varying with different progestational agents.
However, in the nondiabetic woman, oral contraceptives appear to
have no effect on fasting blood glucose. Because of these
demonstrated effects, prediabetic and diabetic women should be
carefully observed while taking oral contraceptives.

I think this should be of great concern to us.
