You should get a period regardless if you skipped the inactive pills or not. Those are just reminder pills. They don't make you get your period.
Having AF on week 2 is probably normal, even if your on pack 4. Maybe your body is still adjusting. They say it takes 3 cycles, maybe yours takes longer...
I wouldn't worry about it though. Sounds normal to me.

I have been on yasmin for 4 months and i never take inactive pills but still have a period, not on the sunday I am supposed to usually on the thursday before starting the active pills.Yasmin might not be strong enough or to strong for you. I would say call your dr. and see what they say!
i skipped the placebo week completely, and start a new pack of active pills. so, i've basically been taking the active pills for five weeks straight now, yet i had what would almost seem like a regular (but rather light period). from what i've read all over the web, people skip the inactive week entirely in order to intentionally not have a period (say, if they're going on vacation and don't want to have to deal with AF, etc...).
thanks!

I've skipped my placebo week with permission from my doctor; she said as long as I don't do it often it's fine. BUT some of us have such delicate balances with our hormones - it just might not work for you. I wouldn't worry too much about it, but call your gyn just to keep her informed.

Tried Ortho-Tri, terrible terrible. Mircette saved my life. Then tried Yasmin which was OK but had some side effects.
Now I'm back on Kariva (generic Mircette) with a low dose of Spiro. Ten bucks a month and I'm in a deliciously good mood.
I took that quiz and I'm Curry Flavored, how cool is that?
It never worked to skip the placibo week.
I would get into it about 6-7 days and AF/PMS would come anyhow. Usually more miserable than normal.
But I also(didn't know at the time) that I had andenomosis.
The pills only aggrivate it. Not stop AF.
I know some do this and have no problems.
But it all depends on what kind of pill you are using.
If you can skip one here and there, no big deal.
i have a friend who Never has AF do to her form of endometreosis.
(For some with endo, they have you go straight through, no AF but 2-4 times a year due to the severe pain of endo)
Good Luck,
Patty

it's super frustrating because i skipped that placebo week for a reason! (camping, etc... not so AF-friendly). i've been spotting all week and now it appears that AF is actually starting. so i will bleed for almost two weeks? that's how this works? argh!!!
anyway, good weekend to you all. thanks for the help!
For my first 3 months on Yasmin, I got my period on day 16 or 17 of my active pills (middle of 3rd week). I even tried skipping an inactive week. Did nothing for me.
Now, I went through all my inactive pills and are 3 days into my active pills, and AF is not here yet, although I have had had BAD cramps and breast tenderness for a week and a half now.
Sigh.
Good luck!

I hope there weren't any bears!
For me, on Yasmin, I had breakthrough bleeding all the time at first. It wasn't just SPOTTING, it was pretty heavy. After a few packs, it seemed, the bleeding would hold off until almost the end of the pack... I'd have no bleeding until, say, week 3.
I'm wondering if, had I tried to skip the bleed week by skipping the off pills and starting a new pack, eventually my bleeds would have started the first week of a new pack? Does that make sense? It's as if as I got used to the pills, the bleeding held off longer and longer, but couldn't be held off altogether... wondering if that's what happened with you?

that's possible, runnerduck. i had no issues with yasmin though, until this last pack. and i didn't stop bleeding until last friday. that's almost three complete weeks of bleeding. i can't tell you how happy i was all day saturday, my first non-bleed day.
i will be curious to see what happens now. i started a new pack on sunday. time will tell.
