Yay!

Well we finally went to orientation on the fifteenth. And then we mailed in our application on the sixteenth. So now we are going through the waiting part to hear when classes are going to start. We were told that there would be classes some time in February but they may or may not already be full. We are hoping like crazy that we get in the Feb. classes b/c if not the next classes are in the middle of the summer. Argh! Now that we are officially started... How do I cope with this waiting? Jeez. Well one thing we are doing is setting up the kids room. We bought a crib/toddler bed this past weekend and are decorating and moving stuff out of the office now to make room for the kid. I am sooooooooo very excited and ready to get this show on the road! LOL My Dh is very excited as well. Is anyone else at about the same stage? So we can whine about waiting together. I am also trying to child proof the house and make sure everything is ready for the homestudy. So I am so nervous about all of this. About the homestudy and everything... any advice about what I need to do would be wonderful. I need an adoption buddy!!! LOL Thanks for listening to me blab!

Hey Heather,
Congratulations on getting your orientation out of the way. I know you must be so glad to have that over with. As for the homestudy, try not to worry (I know, easier said than done). Our social worker said she would be more concerned if our house was spotless than if it had a few dust bunnies.

They are not out to get you (believe it or not), they just want to make sure that you have everything in order, and know what to expect with an adoption. Just relax, be yourself, and you'll do just fine.

Thank you for your kind words. I do realize that they aren't out to get me. It's just scary to think of all the responsibilities. =0) I am still WAY excited though.

hi! congrats on finishing this part. we finally decided to foster/adopt and tried to get into the classes. we had just missed getting into the spring session by 2 weeks!! ugh. our county only does spring and fall sessions. so we had to wait all spring and summer long! it was extremely tough. so if you need to wine, go right ahead. i understand. we are at the next waiting stage. we are waiting for "the call" we are officially certified and our homestudy is done and being written up as we speak. so the waiting never ends. but that's why we're here for each other.

Oh cyndl,

You must have been so upset when you found out that you only missed it by two weeks! I would have cried. =0( Oh wow congrats on being all done and waiting on 'the call'. I bet you are soo excited. We recently found out within the past few days that we may have to move to another parish (county) so we may have to resubmit our application to a different state office after we move. CRUD. And also we will have to be all unpacked and ready for the homestudy and we don't know when the classes in the other parish start. I am hoping we don't have to go to a whole other orientation. Jeez Louise! But it will be nice to have a house for the kids instead of renting so there are so pluses. See I told you I'd whine! LOL
