Default Yaz

Ok so I've been on yaz for around 6 months now and for about maybe the past 2+ months I have been so emotional! I don't know if my hormones are getting more screwed up because of PCOS and yaz isn't doing anything to balance them out or if yaz is actually just making it worse, but I go in to see the dr next month and I think I'm going to talk to her about switching. It's just getting ridiculous. I can't go a day without feeling depressed or getting easily annoyed. But anyway, I was wondering if there's any bcp in particular any of you have had good experiences with? I haven't really had any symptoms with PCOS, just a stray hair every now and then and for a little while I was getting acne in odd places, but that didn't last long. So, what's a good BCP for someone with PCOS? These mood swings are driving me crazy! thanks for any info you guys have!

I just started taking yaz myself. I know everyone is different but I think I will give it the 3 months then see about switching. Then again if things are worse(emotionally) I will see about switching sooner.

Smile Yaz...

Well I took Yaz for one day, yes one day. I had the worst depression. I only took one pill and I seriously could not get out of bed and was ready to just leave life. I told DH to watch me all day. As soon as it was out of my system, I was just fine. I know my experience is just that, mine, but I cannot personally recommend Yaz to anyone after that. I am using the Nuvaring. I personally like the no pill deal and that I havent had problems with it.

Everyone is different and reacts in different ways. I hope you find the right one for you soon.

I've talked to a lot of my friends who have taken yaz and it seems most people tend to have emotional issues with it. I was fine with it at first, but now it's like every little thing irritates me or makes me want to cry. And it's driving me crazy because I have never been moody before...even while PMS'ing. Anyway, thanks for your replies! Good luck lilbitmagoo, hopefully you'll have a better experience with yaz.

I too am interested in knowing what pill out there workes for us PCOS girls. My RE put me on desogen, I know I had never heard of it either and since then my boobs grew (I was already a DD), my weight has shifted and I am MUCH thicker in the middle, and my hair is growing in kinky. Before, my hair was straight with some big waves. Oh, and some skin tags have popped up again which had previously gone away. So, I definitely need to change pills. I have heard PCOS ladies say that Yasmin has helped them to drop the weight. Is Yasmin as bad as Yas with the emotional roller coaster? Does anyone like Yaz? What works for you?

Well I could not handle the crying at the drop of a hat. Called my OB yesterday and she gave me samples for Losestrin24Fe. Shoot last night I was so upset that I told the BF I would make dinner then didn't end up doing and started to cry. He told me everything was ok.

I'm about to start my THIRD brand of BCP. Ortho-Tricyclen helped with my mood for about 1wk and the very first day I took it, I broke out in teeny tiny pimple like bumps all over my face and chest, but I kept taking it until I could get the next set of pills to start over. I'm currently on Yaz, just took my 8th pill today. Around the 1st and 2nd day my face, chest and back were SO clear! Not a pimple in sight....it was awesome and my mood was great! 3 days ago the little bumps started again and my mood went back to bad. SO, the doc now thinks I may be sensitive to estrogen. I'll be picking up a progestin only pill today to see if everything goes back to normal.

I guess everyone is so different. My mood is one way...angry! Things that would normally make someone slightly pissed or irritated is magnified 10 fold with me! We bought a entertainment center the other day and I was getting ready to put it together but noticed the parts looked used. I then noticed it was missing vital parts like the shelf that actually holds the TV. The thing must have been a return at the store! I was so mad I punched the fridge and dented it! Mind you I'm 5'4" and the fridge is solid metal. So, yeah....I really hope this progestin pill works. We can't afford a new fridge, LOL!

Good luck to everyone else too!!!

Well I stopped taking Yaz and my OB put me on Loestrin 24Fe. When I was taking the Yaz I would get upset easily at little things, cry at the drop of a hat. It was crazy so hopefully this other stuff works.

I'm in my third pack of Yaz and so far I'm okay with it. My first AF with the first pack was nothing short of HORRIBLE, but I wanted to keep taking it nonetheless as I know these things can happen but often improve. My AF on the second pack was a LOT better, still cramping but pain killers took care of it. Mood-wise I'm up and down and irritable, which I think is kind of normal for me. It's been a bit of a ride so far, but I will continue taking it until I have a problem that I can't live with. Also, I assume my body is still adjusting and I hope it will keep getting better.

Yasmin works for me. I had bled on Yaz and had to be switched back to Yasmin.

I spotted a little my first month on Yasmin, but after the first pack everythinng went well. I was worried it may cause yeast infections (which I've been prone too) and it didn't. I was worried about it causing mood swings, and it definitely helped me in that aspect. I'm not ready to snap at anything like I used to. Yasmin has helped my acne, and while on it, my excess hair grows slower and I lose less scalp hair.

It doesn't miraculously cure my PCOS, but it helps with the symptoms, and I haven't had any negative side effects while on it (knock on wood!).

My daughter, 17 years old, was on Yaz for about 8 months and just recently went off. Her boobs went from a B to a D and she could not lose any weight. It has only been a month so it is hard to tell how she will do. No period yet but gyno said call if no period in 3 months and she will take a course of provera. she is also on Met 2000mg daily so hopefully she will return to ovulating soon. Her endo is hopeful this will happen. Still trying to lose 10 lbs.

I absolutely loved Yasmin, and actually got pregnant the first month I stopped taking it, thats how much it regulated me. I felt completely normal. After the birth of my DD, my doctor wanted me to try Yaz, it was awful..I hated it. I had horrible headaches and mood swings. I would recommend Yasmin to anyone.

I was on Yaz for 6 months and felt that it made things worse for me; especially my acne. Odd enough b/c it is 'spose to help it. I went off of it about a week ago and havent felt more better. Acne is still there but clearing and I went to the Paraguard IUD which was completely painful but I guess worth it in the long run.

Sounds like me. haha. I cried because my dad told me I needed to get my cat fixed. And other times I've cried for absolutely no reason at all. None. It's very aggravating. However, my gyno just switched me to the generic of loestrin...it's junel FE I think. I'm hoping that works out better.
