Default Yaz?

My endo wants me on b/c until all my levels are straight, she has prescribed Yaz. Opinions on this particular pill from anyone who is or was on it....please!!! Like how does it effect your AF and side effects, if any. Thank you!

The one thing I've noticed while on Yaz is that if I miss 1 or 2 pills I start spotting and don't stop until AF is done. The first cycle I had headaches that may or may not have been caused by the bcp. I don't have any big complaints, though.

I spotted badly the first 2.5 weeks I was on it, which made me exhausted (probably anemic). BUT THEN........Cycle 2 started right on time, side effects faded away, no more spotting at ALL, and I've been in love with it ever since.

I started Met a few months later, so I'm not sure which one is having a bigger impact, but almost all of my PCOS symptoms have faded/disappeared. No more pimples, hairloss is less, hair GROWTH is less or stopped altogether. Happy. Plus, having a 3 or 4 day period (and you know WHEN it's coming!) rocks.

The first time I took it, I bled the entire month. The second month was much better. I stopped taking it for about 7 months, and recently took it again and did not bleed/spot at all during the active pills, and my face seemed to clear up a bunch. I like Yaz a lot more than I like other pills.

I was just thinking this morning that my face has been pretty clear for the last few months. Maybe the Yaz is the cause.

Hi Turtlegirl...sorry this isn't a happy reply to your post. I have known people who really liked Yaz. However, I actually hated Yaz. I only made it on it 2 months before refusing to take any more pills and begging my doctor to switch me back to Loestrin Fe. I had never had any PMS symptoms. Once I started Yaz, though, I ended up with them all! I had really bad cramps, weight gain, more acne, really long periods, and I felt depressed all the time. I have known people who Yaz has really helped, but I suppose it's not good for everyone. Good luck with it and let us know how it goes!

I have been on Yaz now for th last 16 months and I am now being told by my GYN to try Yasmine (which I am against). Yaz was my 7th different type of BCP to try and my body is not responding well all of a sudden. I have more cysts now than I have ever had and the cramps are insane!

When I first started Yaz the side effects were AWFUL! If you wait it out for the full 3ms you will be fine, just don't count on the great relief for long.

i'm on my second month of it right now, and i'm switching pills once i finish this cycle (next week, thank god). the first month i took it, i bled for nearly the entire month with HORRIBLE cramps (the kind that wake you up in the middle of the night) and crazy clotting (i was convinced i was having a miscarriage)...i've had crazy mood swings and i'm usually a very easygoing person...and my skin is AWFUL! way worse than it's ever been.

i talked to my gyno about it and he said that for some women, the low dose of hormones in yaz is TOO low, and apparently i fall into that category. a lot of women seem to like it, and more power to them, but it is definitely NOT for me.

i'm switching to ortho-tricyclen next month, and i'm really hoping it will give me lighter periods and better skin (all of which yaz promised but did not deliver! haha)

I think I'm in the too low boat myself. I keep spotting the middle of a pack, so I'll likely got to something else. Other than that one thing, I don't have a problem with Yaz.

Wink

I am fixing to start Yaz, myself. I have been on Femcon 50mg for about 5 months now and I am willing to try anything to help the cramps, acne, hairloss and everything else. I am bleeding for about 2.5 weeks out of every month and it is really getting on my nerves now! My doc told me that if it wasnt better by the time I got back in July that is wanted to do a combo procedure of Hysteroscopy and Lapraoscopy. But maybe I will get great results from the Yaz so I dont have to have these procedures done.

I'm calling my OB Monday about switching to Ortho. I just can't be bleeding through 1/2 of every month. I'm thinking about an IUD, but that's a big decision.

I just started Yaz myself,
I lost 5 pounds I have only been on 3 weeks
no breakthrough bleeding
I am a little tearful and very jittery at times
this concerns me and I hope it levels off
but I tried ortho and my mood swings were horrendous!!!

I am still on week 1 of yaz. I am having really bad headaches. I had spotting on day 1. And I've been cramping, but I also have gas, so that could be the cause of the cramps...sorry TMI! lol The nurse said for me to give it 3-6 months. HOpefully after this first pack I'll be done with the headaches. They are not fun with 2 kiddos!!
Anyone know how long the headaches last?
