Default YAZ Birth control made a difference in my excessive hair...

I have tried and been on many different types/forms of birth control from the shot to a gazillion pill forms but for the first time for me I started taking Yaz and it surprisingly had an effect on the excessive hair issue i've been dealing with for a while now. The hair doesn't grow back as fast, and in certain places where hair growth was new and just started to appear it hasn't grown back. I've only been on Yaz for a couple of months and am surprised to see such a difference in such short a time. I"m not on metformin, although I tried it in the past but it would make me extremely nauseous so i gave up on taking it. So the only possible thing I can contribute this to is finding Yaz. I don't know if it's Yas specifically, or if certain birth control pills work better with certain body chemistries etc. but i wouldn't give up on trying different methods because basically that's what i've been doing the past several years of my life thinking that one day i might find a birth control that makes a significant improvement in the excessive hair symptom of pcos.

Thank you very much for this post! I am going to start Yaz in one and a half weeks and I'm cautiously optimistic about it!

Have you noticed any other benefits?

Any side effects to report?

Thanks!

The only thing i've noticed is my skin has become clearer, but at around the same time I started taking vitamins for my excema (flaxseed oil, vitamin a, and omega fatty oil) so it could be the vitamins helping with my skin as well but i'm leaning more towards the Yaz. Suprisingly I haven't experienced any bad side affects as of yet. Make sure the birth control you get is Yaz because it is different than the birth control Yazmine.....Hope this helps and good luck with it!

This is good to hear. I hope to start Yaz after pregnancy to help symptoms, and I've heard a lot of bad side effects, but it's good to know it has helped someone.

Yeah, there are a lot of bad side affects, but i've literally been on/tried 3-5 different type of birth control pills during my life, and even depo provera and experienced bad side affects including mood swings/feeling more depressed, my skin worsening, brown spots appearing, break through bleeding, I could probably go on...but I honestly haven't had any of those with yaz.....I think it's best to have a doctor that realizes certain birth controls work better with certain people because of body chemistry, or health related issues....and it also helps to know that experiencing a certain side affect isn't something you should just "get use to"..it's better to try something else if whatever birth control is giving you problems. Because there are tons of different types of pill /hormonal birth control options. This may be vain, but i'm most thankful to see a difference in the excessive hair growth. It's really helped out a lot for me. Having to keep with unwanted hair is already a pain, but mine use to grow back way faster and it's definitely slowed down a bit, and has stopped in some areas so i'm pretty happy!

I agree with every she said about yaz my hair growth did the same thing. slowed down and even stopped in areas. and my skin looked a lot better. I hated yasmine and mad that i asked to switch to it. my symptoms got worse while on it. and threw it away and im calling first thing monday morning to get it switched back to yaz. I only switched because it is expensive compared to yasmine... but i decided its worth the extra money.....

Hi Ladies,

Now that I've been on yaz for just 5 days I am anxious for the effects to start showing! I know it's not been long enough, but when did you notice a difference in hair growth?

I want to time my (very expensive) almost total body waxing with when it will last longer and the hair won't grow back as fast.

Thanks

PS--so far so good with side effects. None that I have noticed yet.

I've noticed the same...much less ance and much less hair growth. Still some on the face, which is the part I really wish would go away, but I had a little "happy trail" too which I'd take care of daily and now that I think about it, that is pretty much non-existant. It's wonderful. I did see all the horrible side effects from other posters prior to starting it and being a non-pill/hormone taker I was terrified, but we are watching for any "bad" symptoms and so far it's been all good. As for length of time, I've been on it nearly 1 month. We're going to do one more month, then TTC. I think I noticed the ance clearing up after about only 2 weeks, if that...as for the hair on my face...it's definitely thinner and I think that's really been noticable since about 2.5-3 weeks. Really didn't take long in my opinion. I'm excited to see what month 2 brings! Hopefully more goes away!! Honestly, if we were TTC at this point I'd definitely stay on Yaz just for all that it's done for me...but we want babies.
