Red face Yaz, birthcontrol, and PCOS

I have been taking Yaz birth control for two years! It has helped me out alot. Taken away oily skin, keeping my excess hair in check, and most importantly, it has given me my monthly cycle back.

Just recently commercials have been coming out about Yaz, saying it has caused Death and more serious symptoms. The comerical stated that Yaz is for treating symptoms of PMDD! It freaked me out so i stoped taking my yaz over a month ago. No period and my skin is just covered in oil.

I was wondering if Yaz would be okay to treat symptoms of PCOS as well as PMDD? Im going to start taking it again, but if someone knows that it has seriously hurt someone who has PCOS, please let me know.

FWIW all birth control pills have those cautions.

Yaz is sometimes prescribed for people have severe acne and PMDD. The cautions are because their old ads said they cured acne and PMS. The FDA sort of frowns on drugs being prescribed for mild/normal occurrences, so they wanted them to clarify the recommendations.

Unless you're suffering severe side-effects yourself, just stopping taking a drug that a doctor has prescribed for you is not a good idea. Before making any changes, you should do some homework.

1) see if online search engines turn up any information. This is a great source of information.

2) talk to your pharmacist or any pharamacist. they will usually talk to you and if you don't want to see one in person, many pharmacies have 24 hour lines you can call and talk to someone.

3) call your doctor and talk to them. They should be able to clear up any questions you might have.

I was wondering the same thing! I am leery of BCP in general because I know they make you gain weight.

My Dr did say Yaz was better for women that had PCOS due to the hormones that were in and the amount of the hormones in it. I know all bcp has possible side effects but I am worried about the this one having even more serious one. I am going to talk to my Dr on my next visits. I don't really have af on it anyway's, so that's not good.
