Angry Yaz causing Acne?!?!?

I'm on my 3rd month of yaz and my face looks horrible! I thought this stuff was supposed to clear up acne?!? Not that I had any before this. I never had acne before starting this. I am also on Spiro. I am getting big, deep scaring zits on my cheeks for the last two months. I used to get one zit occasionally. Usually when my AF came 2-3 times a year. Can Yaz be causing this? I've been on bc before. Almost every kind and never had this problem. I've started using proactiv at night but it doesn't seem to help. I went on the yaz for the hair issue but this is almost as bad. Anyone?

yes! on top of the month-long period and insane bad cramps, yaz made my skin HORRIBLE. not just normal pimples, but the deep, painful cystic ones like you've described.

my doctor switched me to ortho tri cyclen-lo...i've only been on it for about 2 weeks and i haven't noticed a super big improvement in my skin yet, but i'm hoping for it soon...i've never really had perfect skin but it's NEVER been as bad as it was on yaz. i can't wait til it clears back up, geesh!

I'm starting to think I might go back to the NuvaRing. The spiro has helped with the hair so I'm wondering if that's the only real reason I'm on Yaz then I might be able to manage with just the spiro.... Uggggggg! D@MN HORMONES!

Wow!!! I thought I was the only one! Maybe I should be on the old BCPs that I was on before; I never had zits on Tri-Nessa (Ortho Tri-cyclen).

I do not know anymore... Maybe I am just ruined now and no way back to "normal".

I was thinking when I went on it that "ok, it helps with acne and I don't have it so maybe it will just make my skin really nice." Not!!! I've been using my bf's sisters proactive and it's helping though.

I've been on Yasmin for quite a while which is basically the same thing but higher dose. I've always had acne issues and hair issues and went on it for those two reasons. For the first four months it made my skin worse, a lot worse but I knew that that would happen. Then it got a lot better. It is a godsend honestly. My skin has been so clear ever since. You will go through a bad breakout at first but then your skin should clear. On the acne board I used to go to it was always called the "initial breakout" because most new acne treatments that you try would have this effect. I know you didn't have skin problems before, but yeah. My hair issues have also gotten better and my skin isn't nearly as oily.

Thanks! That makes a lot of sense now that I think about it. Most medicines do that or have a high side effect rate when you first start taking it but it was just weird that something that clears it up caused me to have it horribly. Mines cleared up a lot in the last week after my last AF. Still using the proactive just in case and to help the blemishy look from them go away faster. I'm also taking Spiro but I have noticed the hair issue getting better but I'm not to sure if the Yaz or Spiro is really doing that or if it's the combination. I just hate doing pills. I'm the WORST at remembering to take them.

I am only in my third week, however my skin is already clearing up and I am less oily...unless metformin does that too, it has to be the yaz, which is a nice side effect. I hoping it gets better for you girls. I have had bad skin for years. The thought of being able to go out this summer without make up thrills me.
