Yaz vs. Yasmin

A little over two years ago I was put on Yasmin to help regulate my periods. Then a year ago I switched to Yaz because it was less expensive than the Yazmin. The Yaz has been working fine for the past year until a couple weeks ago I started having break through bleeding for aboout a week. I felt completly awful and had nauseua. I have never had break through bleeding in all my years of menstrating. Well the bleeding is back and it is heavier this time around. I should not be having my period right now.

I have no idea what to do. Has this happen to anyone else on Yaz or something else? Should I change birth control pills? I guess I will call my doctor on Monday. Let me know if anyone has any ideas. Thanks you.

Yaz has less estrogen than Yasmin does, so this may cause the breakthrough bleeding. Yasmin now has a generic (Ocella)...if you wanted to go back to it, this may greatly reduce your cost.

Thank you. I do think I am going to switch back to Yasmin, especially because there is a generic.

i tried yaz for a couple months and found that it didnt keep my symptoms under control enough as well as yasmin. i got more pimples on yaz

i took yasin when i was a little younger, and had no problems with it at all, actually lost 10 lbs when i started taking it too. but i started mircettie or something like that, and have breakthrew bleeding, super heavy and super painfull. point being that diffrent bcp have diffrent effects, sometimes they dont show up right away either.

yasmin is so far the best it seamed like it worked for you before, so i would go back to it, especially if you were happy with it ( other than the cost)
