Default Yaz/Yasmin

Figured I would post this here since the BCP forum doesn't get a lot of traffic. Can anyone tell me how being on Yaz or Yasmin might have helped with hair loss? I'm currently on Spiro for hirsutism but my hair is thinning as well, and I am petrified. I'm also trying to get tested for hypothyroid, but would Spiro help at least a little bit even if I had it?

I'm on just a regular BCP but would consider switching if it could help. I'm willing to try anything right now.

How long have you been taking spiro? Its takes 3-6 mo. Im taking Yasmin. it seems like it MIGHT be slowing the HL although I've only been on it 3 months.

I was on Yasmin for about a year and I noticed that my hair grew really long and was pretty healthy.

However, I want to warn you......while taking Yasmin, I had so many horrible side effects that I eventually had to quit. It took months to get it out of my system.... Please, pleeeeease do some research before starting Yasmin. If I would've known about all the side effects, I never would've started it!!!! It made my hormone imbalance way worse AND once you quit, your hair falls out like crazy anyways.... I would NOT recommend it!

I've been on Yasmin for 3 weeks and I like it so far. I was worried about being moody on it because a lot of people report that side effect, but I've actually been WAY less moody than I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen! I have hair loss, too, and I'm hoping that Yasmin helps.

As for other side effects- I haven't had any, really. My face has broken out a little more, but my overall complexion is nice and clear and not blotchy (which is what I hate the most about acne/skin problems.) I feel a little bloated as of today (and I'm on the 3rd week, like I said) but I got bloated on Ortho, too...so overall, Yasmin is treating me pretty well. Good luck with it!
