Yeah for Actos with Glucophage

Hi all,
Some of you may remember me, a few months ago I asked if anyone was taking Gluc XR and Actos together but no one responded.

I am not Type II just IR and have used both now for 2 months and for the first time in 7 years have had 2 perfect 28 day cycles.

I know some people have said they have gained weight with the Actos but I have not.

I just wanted you all to know this in case your docs talk to you about it!

what is actos?? does it do the same thing as glucophage xr? why would you need both? how much do you take?

I was on Glucophage by itself for a year and while I had 35 day cycles I o'd late and poorly which is what I was doing before the gluc. So they repeated my 3 hour and found out that my insulin levels were triple what they sould be at the one hour mark but the gluc had brought the insulin levels down to normal at the other intervals

I take 2000 mg GLucophage XR and 45 mg of Actos. To tell you the truth other than it helps your body use the insulin it produces better, which is what the gluc does, I am not sure what the difference is. My doc just said that some were having success with the combination.

We still have male factor so I don't know if it will make a huge difference but it is nice to know my homones are once again in enough of a balance to make my cycles regular.

thanks for the info i will discuss this with my endo the next time i see him which is on 12/26, i started in jan on 500mg glux xr, my testosterone level was 90 at the time, then i went back in april and my testosterone levels were done to 60, so he upped the gluc to 1000mg but when i went back in sept he said my testosterone level was still 60 so he upped me again to 1500mg, i think he is increasing my dosage a lot slower than normal because i see a lot of ladies here go up to 2000 after six weeks and it will be almost a year for me and i am not there yet!
i see an re to help TTC and am awaiting my period to take clomid for the third time, this time we are upping that dose too.
