Default Yeast & PCOS

Has anyone heard about a Candida (yeast) and PCOS connection?

I've bee reviewing a few threads and see that many of us have allergies, asthma and many joint aches.

Recently I've done some research on the effects of candida overgrowth within a person's body and it's consequences.

Wouldn't it be great if yeast were the cause of PCOS? If we could just pin down the cause, then we could treat it without meds.

Hoping....always searching...

I dont know if there is a connection or not but I know that I get at least one yeast infection every couple of months. It has always been like that. I wish I knew if there was a connection!! Yeast infections are the worst!! YUCK!! Meds dont help it either. All that helps me are over the counter items.

I get yeast infections about every couple of months too.
They are horrible.
Just out of curiosity, do you get a white coating on your tongue? You don't have to answer that if you don't want to. I'm just wondering because I do and apparently that's a real good sign of Candida overgrowth in the gut (tummy).

Ladies I can relate

Recurrent yeast infections are what brought on testing for diabetes, not to leave out my irregular cycles, diabetes runs heavily in my family as well. Also other signs of PCOS. My GYN told me that the high levels of glucose/insulin can cause an imbalance and allow the yeast to grow out of control. From Dec. 1 to Feb. 15 I suffered with them. I went on Dec. 1, Dec. 31, and Jan 24 all for a yeast infection. It's like it wouldn't stay away. I did some online research and found that acidophilus (live & active cultures) help with balancing out your levels. Started eating yogurt and bought a bottle of acidophilus pills (over the counter) and since I haven't been bothered.

I keep a yeast infection constantly. It's my understanding that yeast thrives on high blood sugar. That's what my doctor says. She says that since I'm not on the proper diet that I can't get cleared up. I've used 3 pills in the last few weeks.

Yes to the two posts above me. The high insulin levels cause your body to be more prone to yeast infections.

Thumbs up

I have not gotten the white coating on my tongue before. But I have heard of that. All I get are the yeast infections with the nasty discharge. Keep us posted on the tongue thing.

I don't know that I have full out oral thrush because it doesn't hurt. It's just this constant coating. I went to see a Chinese Herbalist and he noted that I had a coating too. He advised a diet of mainly vegetables and rice with very little meat.
There are so many preservatives in everything we eat that I sometimes wonder if we're almost being poisoned by what we consume. There is sugar and starch in almost everything you find on the shelves in the grocery store.

Anyhooo...

Thanks for all the feedback.

You know, I never thought much about it before but after reading this post I went to the bathroom and looked at my tongue. It is white. Doesn't hurt or anything. I wonder if it's thrush.

I take grapefruit seed extract (from the healthfood store). You put a few drops in water and drink it. It's supposed to keep the yeast in your gut to a minimum. I don't take it as regularily as I should. And I've noticed the white tongue thing gets worse when I miss taking it for a few days. I guess if there's an overgrowth of yeast in your gut, it is pretty much everywhere.
I keep hearing that high insulin levels cause susceptibility to yeast overgrowth, which is true.
But my question is...what if it's actually the yeast that has caused us to have PCOS???
What if the high insulin levels most of us here have are actually the RESULT of yeast overgrowth? What if we have so much yeast in our guts, that our bodies are unable to properly metabolize the sugar. Therefore causing the high insulin/blood sugar thing?

This is my wishful thinking because if this was the case, it would be way easier for us to treat a yeast overgrowth in our bodies homeopathically than to take drugs that may simply be treating the results of an improperly diagnosed condition.

If anyone has any thoughts on this...let 'em rip.

wouldn't it be great if we could finally feel 100% !!!

Food and debris can build up on your tongue too - try brushing it or scrape it with your fingernail and you'll see the stuff come off. If it's not painful thats probably all it is. I use one of those tongue cleaners and it works well - helps your breath too.

Watch these yeast infections ladies. Mine went from yeast to bacterial. That's even worse. My doc said that many people asume its yeast whrn its actually bacterial. I'm currebtly being treated for this with netrogel vaginal and metro oral.

Yes I agree with Amanda, make sure it really is yeast. A few years ago after going to the doc, I found out that I had Bacterial Vaginosis, and Mucopurulent Cervicitis. And I had no clue. So it's always good to make sure. Every now and then though I do get yeast infections, and I also have asthma and allergies. How are the asthma/allergies connected to yeast infections, out of curiosity? Very interesting! I've never heard this before.

The allergy & asthma relation to candida is just a theory. Apparently a lot of people with allergies and asthma also have food allergies like sensitivities to yeast in bread and cheese, etc...

If you do one of those online surveys for candida, they always ask about asthma and other allergies. I went to see a a homeopathic doctor and apparently there is a connection. Unfortunately I cant remember the details. This is another symptom of yeast overgrowth in the body - lethargy & bad memory. Sorry.

A question for Witchgrl: I'm just curious what you use aspirin for? Is it for blood thinning purposes? Does it work?
