Hello!
I've been lurking on these boards for a couple of months now, thought it was high time I delurked and introduced myself! I'm Lish, 30 years old, single and living in the Blue Mountains, in NSW.
Just yesterday I saw an endocrinologist who says she is pretty sure that I have PCOS. Before she starts treatment, she's running a few tests to make certain. I'm in the middle of a 24 hour pee test which has just made my day so wonderful, not (I never thought the loo would look so attractive)! I have three days to carb up and then I have a GTT on Monday morning. Later next month I have a host of blood tests to look forward to.
I have the usual symptoms - hirsutism, acne, weight gain, pelvic pain, some signs of IR, whacky hormone levels, anxiety and recently my periods have started to muck up a wee bit. I have had an ultrasound done last year, but the report was no sign of cysts, however the endo looked at the scan and said something like "Oh, you do have multiple follicles". I was too stunned by the whole process to ask what she meant (one of those rare times I was speechless).
I don't see my endo until the end of next month so I'm dreading the long wait until I get all the test results. In the meantime I need to do something about my weight! Great timing - cold weather starting and I have to avoid all that yummy comfort food...celery doesn't have quite the appeal of a piece of fresh baked bread!
As you can see, I tend to babble a lot! Looking forward to getting to know you better!
~ Lish
