yet another newbie :) Hi everyone, I'm Shana I have most of the classic symptoms; extreme weight gain(almost impossible to lose), moderate male pattern hair growth(mainly face & lower body), some resistance to insulin etc etc etc. I know WHEN the PCOS really kicked in..but it took me a number of years to finally get a good DX on it. I'm FINALLY giving up on the stupid doc I have now, and I'm heading to a NEW doc with REAL experience with PCOS(my old doc, doesn't really believe in PCOS...she thinks that it's an excuse that fat women use to be fat.) HOPING to start Metformin soon, as well as a new herbal system! I look forward to getting to know all of you!!!! Shana

Welcome! It sounds like you had a really awful doctor. You might want to check the find a doctor threads, there might be somone in your area who knows of one. It really can make all the difference in the world.

yet another newbie :) 
, I'm 29 & Single but hoping to TTC in the next year or two..with or without the man of my dreams(I'm getting tired of waiting for him to show up!) I was DX in '96, and the only treatment I have attempted was a short and HORRIBLE 4 months on BCPs...
