Thumbs up Yippeeeee for cayenne pepper!

Hey ladies...just thought I'd share this with you. I had read (on one website or another) that a cayenne pepper paste rubbed into your scalp and left on for 20-30 min before washing can slow hairloss and stimulate hair growth. After a couple of weeks of doing that 2-3 times a week I DID notice a difference, but the BIG difference came when I started taking cayenne pepper suppliments. Within a week of taking 2 capsules 2x a day my hair loss was DRAMATICALLY reduced. These days my hairloss is normal unless I forget to take my suppliments a couple of days in a row. Walmart carries the suppliments.

Here's wishing you all the best of luck!

I'd put mustard on my head if it would help!

How did you make the paste? Did it burn or irritate your scalp? I suppose you'd have to be careful with rinsing it out, not to get any in your eyes!

I know how you feel! My hair was coming out in GOBBS!! I was convinced I'd be bald within a month if something didn't work!!!

To make the paste I just put some on my palm and then I take a little squirt bottle and get it just wet enough that it's gooey. Then I rub it on my scalp one area at a time. And yes, if you put too much on it will burn, but since the instructions I found said nothing of how much to use, it was just trial and error at first. As long as I can see that my scalp is turning orange, I figure I have enough on there.

And 'yes' again to being careful not to get it in your eyes. You want to be sure to scrub you scalp well when you wash it out...it's not the easiest thing to get out of your hair. Oh, and it does tend to tingle a bit while you leave it on, but as long as you don't have tons on there, it's not uncomfortable. You might want to put a shower cap on while you wait your 20 min just to keep any loose clups of cayenne from falling where you don't want it....like your tea :-) lol

But as I said before...the suppliments are what made the biggest difference in my hairloss.

Good luck!
Brandy

P.s. BTW...where in Germany are you? I lived in Germany for a total of 17 years and miss it terribly!

Hi MotherGoose!

Just out of curiousity, did the cayenne pepper supplements give you heartburn or any type of stomach problems? And your belief is confirmed, cayenne pepper is a 5 alpha-reductase inhibitor.

(5 A-R converts T to DHT, then adversely reacting with the hair follicles, causing androgenetic alopecia hair loss).

DaniJ,
I did not talk to my dr about the suppliment...it did not even cross my mind that cayenne pepper might interfere with my other suppliments. Maybe I should.

Laura,
As for stomach problems....it does give me a little heartburn, but not enough to make me stop taking it, especially since it's working! And thank you for the information. The website I found did not give me a reason why the cayenne works.

Good luck to the rest of you!

Brandy,
I am going to try the cyanne pepper on my head as you did. Can you buy the cayenne pepper in the spice aisle at the supermarket? healthfood store? I know you said the supplement capsules are available at Walmart.

I hope it works!!!! I am desperate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JennyJosh,

I do just use the cayenne pepper from the grocery section. I've found that FIESTA brand is the best value for your money. In our Walmart they keep it in the mexican food section...it wasn't with the rest of the spices.

Hope it gives you the same results I got!
All the best!

Interesting... wonder if this would interfere with breastfeeding in any way? My post pregnancy hair loss hasn't begun yet, but I spend every day dreading it...

(FWIW, thai food and garlic haven't made my baby refuse to nurse... not sure if cayenne pepper would have any effect or not...)

How much of the supplements should you take (mg, g, etc.)??? Where's a good place to get them? I've gotta try this!

Runner Duck.... unfortunately, I can't tell you whether or not the cayenne would upset your baby. I had stopped bf before I found this solution. But it was my post pg hairloss that sent me in search of SOMETHING to stop the gobs of hair from falling out!

triquetra3509... I just followed the instructions on the bottle at first and then was able to reduce the amount I took. The bottle says 2-3 capsules 3x a day. Cayenne is measured in STU's and the spring Valley brand has 40,000 STU's.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you ladies....my family has been dealing with a nasty stomach virus (vomiting, diahrrea, fever.) My 5 yr old has it today. I had it last wk and couldn't take my suppliments for 3 days, so today my hair let me know about it! I lost more today than I did all last week. UGH!

Met is finally growing back my hair slowly but I still need more! I see you said it comes in a supplement but near the food section at walmart? Not by the vitamins?

Thanks so much for all your info and "testing" on this! hope your family feels better soon!!

Jennifer,

The cayenne pepper for the rub for your scalp is in the grocery section...the suppliments ARE in the vitamin area!
