Default You choose which works best for you!

Hey ladies! I was just being so curious about all the different meds that I could possibly take to make my body more "normal" in so many different ways, but I am getting a headache from reading so many posts! lol

You all know that we turn to each other for advice and help regarding meds and what works best, all the while knowing that what works for one cyster might not work for another....

What I'm hoping to accomplish with this thread is pinpointing specific areas to improve and what meds/med combo YOU used to help acheive that goal!

If you have been on a medicine for a while and have a few opinions on it, please follow the simple steps below to post about it! Bear with me, though, cause this will seem like a test lol...

1. Decide what the medicine you have chosen to speak about is most commonly used for among cysters. For example: Metformin - improve insulin sensitivity

2. Did you acheive noticeable results during your experience with this medication?

3. Would you recommend someone using it to help with whatever the medication is suppose to help with?

All the facts mentioned above should be stated in your reply "subject" -- like this-- subject: Metformin - increase insulin sensitivity, yes, yes -- and anyone reading this original post will know what to look for in your subject headings to see which reply to read and which to overlook because it isn't specifically discussing a med that helps them and/or their symptoms!

Now, in your reply message, of course, you can write whatever you feel necessary about the med/meds you've chosen, but please try to give as much information as possible about yourself and the meds.

For instance, if you chose Provera- induce menstruation, yes, yes -- then the post should also contain information such as:

I took Provera (medroxyprogesterone) to induce AF. I was on a 10mg dosage for 5 days. My AF started 3 days after my last pill. I had no cramps or discomfort from the Provera. I would recommend this medication (maybe not the same dosage for everyone) to someone wishing to induce AF.

I really hope this makes sense to everyone, and if you all would take a few minutes to try this out, it might become SUPER beneficial to those who are searching for specific meds and/or symptoms to treat.

I'll start off the first couple of posts with Provera and Clomid (and please don't think that because someone has already posted about Clomid or glucophage, that you can't! All opinions are wanted here!)

Thanks for entertaining me (AM I A FREAK OR WHAT?! LOL)

Have fun!

Default PROVERA - induce AF - YES - YES

I was prescribed 10 mg of Provera to take for 10 days, but I only took them for 5 days (in the morning). AF arrived usually on the second or third day AFTER the last Provera pill. I had no adverse side effects from this medication.

I would definitely recommend this medication to anyone looking to induce AF.

HOWEVER, don't think that just because you have acheived AF that you will also Ovulate, because that isn't usually the case. If you have to induce AF, chances are you don't Ovulate on your own and you may need to seek further assistance.

Default CLOMID - induce Ovulation - YES - YES

I purchased Clomid from medsmex.com. I took two 50mg tablets each night at 8 pm (before bed, so I could sleep off any major side effects) for CD 2-6.

The first month, I ovulated (not EXACTLY sure of which CD I O'd on, but I am pretty sure it was CD 19). YAY! My luteal phase was almost exactly 14 days long.

Side Effects:

I did suffer many hot flashes throughout the days following my last pill.

I did have a few small (but constant) headaches

I also had cramps for about a week (I'm assuming that was around time of O though, so it might not have been a s/e of the Clomid.

Night sweats are pretty bad too. I can't seem to sleep but a few hours at a time because I can't get comfortable!

My CM was scant. So I've been using PreSeed lubricant to help in that department.

Would I recommend this med to someone trying to Ovulate and conceive? YES! But, if you have other options (like Letrezole), please look into them because the s/e may be less uncomfortable with better results.

Default Xenical - weightloss -- NO -- NO

I took Xenical for approximately a month and although I lost a pound or two (nothing near what I lost doing Low-Carb), I didn't lose enough to overlook the expense of the medication.

I spent around $110 on it! Man am I sorry now that I wasted it all!

Side effects:

The only side effect that I recall was (errr TMI so be careful here! lol) anal leakage. Basically, the medication works by bonding to fatty substances and making them indigestable (sp?). So, the substance flows straight through you and onto your underwear before you know it! So very disgusting!

That just wasn't a price I was willing to pay to lose weight.

I wouldn't recommend this form of medication for weightloss (especially when there are much easier and more efficient ways to lose the unwanted weight!! LOW CARB).

So, in closing, it didn't work for me after 30 days. The side effects were ridiculous, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
