Default You know those bumpy things on your arms?

I can't remember what they are called, but I have always had them all over my upper arms.

I noticed yesterday - they are almost GONE! Completely! The only thing I've changed is the met!

Wow, I have had those my entire life and the dermatologist has tried everything to make them go away.

This gives me hope now that I may be able to wear a sleeveless shirt without worrying about how my arms look.

I am so happy to know there is someone else out there with the same problem.

Thanks.

Christy, you just increased to 1500, was that planned or did you notice 1000 wasn't working and then ask to increase? I am asking because I have been on 1000 for two weeks and it hasn't helped at all. I have also cut back on carbs and tried to eat more protein (but i hate meat so I still do not get a whole lot). Anyway, I though about calling tomorrow to ask for an increase.

p.s. I also have "nontraditional pcos"

The plan was always to get up to 1500 because from what I've heard, anything less than that is not effective for PCOS usually. I went from 750 to 1500 (one pill to two.)

I and my son have these...he also has them on his Legs. I have found using a loofa with Dove Ultramoisturizing liquid bath soap and a lotion (2times a day)with Latic Acid works wonders. It is caused by a excess of Keratin in the hair follicles and the only way to get rid of it is to SCRUB! It also is hereditary.

Holy Crap, after reading your post, I just looked at my arms and for the first time noticed that my bumps were gone too. I'm on Met 1000mg

hyperkeratosis pilaris, is what it is called... I have read it can be a sign of fatty acid deficiency. Also seems common in people who are overweight, have PCOS, IR, etc...

I have had them since I was at least 3. Have them on the fronts of my thighs, too, but not as bad. I have found the only way to get rid of them is to SCRUB in the shower (with a salt scrub or there used to be a Freeman raspberry-almond scrub I really liked) and use a good lotion afterwards. The lactic acid ones are supposed to help with the keratin formation but I never noticed them to do much for me.

I used to be embarassed by it but now I have notice so many people have it, I don't care so much any more.

I have also heard that it is a fatty acid deficiency, taking omega-3 fatty acid supplements is also supposed to help. I learned this on a web site that is very interesting called My Body Language http://www.mybodylanguage.co.uk/
