It worked great, but I gained weight in my first tri, oops. Carol, ((HUGS)) I will include you and your baby in my prayers. I hope you get a good beta today. Will they check your progesterone level, too? Quote:
Originally Posted by Silver09 Hey this is my first post. I'm a LDS cyster from Fort Worth, Texas. I was diagnosed with PCOS in Feb. 08. I don't really have any symptoms except for irregular periods. My husband and I are ttc and I am currently on met and clomid. This is my first round of clomid and I don't even know if I ovulated. Those OPK test are so hard to read. So before I was diagnosed, I always charted my temperature and it always went up when I ovulated and dropped when AF came. But my doctor then tells me that I don't ovulate. He said my LH levels were higher than my FSH levels...but I had just ovulated so aren't my LH levels suppose to be higher? That was the same day my temperature increased. I don't understand how that can be. I do know that my luteal phase is always shorter and they tested me last month and said my progesterone levels were low and so that is why they put me on clomid. And now that I am on clomid and met...my temperature doesn't rise. I just don't get it!
I think I'm the only one in my ward that isn't pregnant or that doesn't have any children. It is so hard and I feel like no one understands what I'm going through.
Sorry this is so long but I just feel really lost. Anyone has any advice...I would appreciate it.
Laura | Laura, to soulcysters, and to our LDS thread. I know it is hard to see ladies popping up PG at church, when you have been TTC for a while. I've been there, too. I didn't seek help right away, but in retrospect, I wish I would have.
It is good that you are getting help. Is your doc an RE? Reading what you wrote has got me thinking....hum.
I before I was Dx'ed with PCOS, I had 40 day cycles. I suspect that I wasn't Oing since we BD'd 14 days after AF, and 14 days before AF was expected (and several in betwen), and never got the BFP. I never took my BBT, so I am not sure if I even had a temp rise or not.
After reading what you have wrote, now I am wondering if it is possible for the CL to start producing progesterone, and cause a temp rise, even if the egg never actually released.....It must be possible for the CL to produce Prog, even without Oing, otherwise AF would not arrive after an anovulatory cycle. I guess that must be how cysts are formed. Either that, or I really was Oing, and just never caught the egg.
What your doc said about your said about your LH levels being higher than your FSH levels has me confused, too. I just looked up the hormone levels on the net and I am still confused, I guess it really depends on which CD the tests were taken on, since hormone levels change through the cycle. It does seem like LH should be higher than FSH on the day you O, since the LH surge would have just happened.
I have never been on clomid, but I have read on the boards that clomid can actually cause a late O, so maybe you just didn't O yet and that is why you haven't gotten a temp rise yet? Do you use FF or some type or online BBT chart? I wish you the best of luck and hope you O soon.

Points: 625.20 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 625.20 | Well I was using OPK's to test for a LH surge. I just feel like I'm throwing away money because they end up costing so much. I usually go through two packs because I have never ovulated on time. On day 19, the two lines were really close in color but just off by half a shade. I had read someone that most women usually have their LH surge in the morning and it takes four hours for it to get in their system. And so it is best to test around 2pm which I tested at around 11am. So I thought maybe I tested too early and I ended up testing for another 5 days after that but never came close to a LH surge and so I stopped testing for this cycle. My doctor is just an OBGYN and at first I liked him but now I am starting to have doubts. I have read that most women go in and get an US when they start clomid and all he wants me to do is get my blood taken 7 dpo. Also the nurse called and told me that I had this PCOS and that was it. Didn't ever really explain what was going on or anything. They just told me to start taking metformin and then the next month they put me on met and clomid. |

My Mood: Points: 848.48 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 848.48 | I am spotting... They did another beta will have the results tomorrow morning. They cannot check my progesterone as it would not be a true reading since I am taking supplements. They say it might only be implantation bleeding. However I have been told that twice before. This is the third time I have been pregnant in less than a year...

I think that RE's or fertility clinics monitor follicle growth with U/S, but OB's probably don't that often. Might depend on your doc, and on what your insurance will pay for. Carol, it is good that you are already on progesterone. One less thing to worry about with this PG. I had low progesterone levels, and I was a lot less worried after I was started on supplemental progesterone. I have heard that spotting is common in the first weeks of PG, and is not always a sign of m/c. I hope you get good news tomorrow.

The progesterone cream doesn't effect the numbers in your blood. Laura - Hang in there, it will happen. Have you tried buying some OPT's from ebay. Sometimes you can get some really good deals. Like 30 for $10 or something.

Jade - I am on Prometrium taken vaginally. Could they still be able to test.
I am still awaiting the beta #s form yesterday. I should know by 9:30
Thanks for the prayers

The most important thing is that your progesterone level (natural or supplemented) is high enough to sustain the PG, and since you are on supplemental progesterone, than your levels should be high enough, so there is no need to test.
Were you one progesterone, or did you have your levels tested with your first 2 PGs?
I am keeping everything crossed that you get good news this AM.

Points: 625.20 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 625.20 | Jade - Thanks so much for telling me about the OPK's on ebay. They are so cheap, I wish I knew about this a long time ago. It would have saved me a lot of money. I am even going to buy me one pack of the digital and so if I am unsure and I test with that and be positive if I am ovulating or not. So I am going to wait until my AF comes (just in case) and order me a whole lot. |

If it is doubling at least every 72 hours (3 days) it is a good sign of a viable PG. Are they going to do another beta in a few days to make sure it keeps doubling every 3 days?
