Default Your imput on Spiro & other anti-androgen drugs, please.

Hi,

I was on Diane-35 for about 4 months and I could see results for sure...Diane-35 contains Cyproterone which is an anti-androgen so it blocks testosterone from doing what is supposed to do. However, all these anti-androgens must be stopped if you plan to get pregnant because it can have serious side effects on a male fetus.

I am thinking about going back to Diane35 because it hasn't even been a month and I am starting to see all the hair back (legs, tummy, bottom, EVERYWHERE!) with ingrown hairs and all. I was happy with the results but I am just afraid of any long term effects-Are there any women out there that took any of these, stoped taking them when they planned on getting pregrant and how did everything work out?

Thanks a bunch!!!

I took Diane twice, and it worked better for me the first time, then it did the second. But I also had more weight on the second time, so this may have been a factor, too.

I'm not sure about your question. Both my Endocrinologist and High-Risk Perinatologist say it is a categorical "yes" for women with pcos to be on bcp (when they aren't ttc obviously...). But then I've read articles throughout this site, stating a negative effect of long-term use when it comes to insulin resistance (something synonymous with PCOS, according to my Endo.) I think if you are going to go back on long-term, you should take something with it, like Spironolactone (which also helps with hair) or Metformin which helps regulate your insulin.
