My spiro is so minty that it burns going down especially with orange juice. Anyone else? I was wondering if it was just because of the pharmacy I go to.

Yup, my spiro is minty as well. It's not quite as nasty as the vitamin B-complex capsule I'm trying to take, but it's still pretty yucky . I've found that it helps if I take the spiro right after I brush my teeth because then I can't taste it as much.
I don't really know what you mean by 'minty'. However, the taste is unbearable and so disgusting. I take my pills then I stop, take 'em, then I stop and I know that's not good at all for my body. I really hate the taste of Metformin, and Spiro, especially...

Mine smells minty too, but tastes horrible! Are we aloud to take it with food? I think a few times my bottle had a "take with food" label but when I looked today it wasn't on there. Maybe I'm thinking of met.
I've had a few different strengths of Spiro from different manufacturers, and they all taste minty. I can't say I've ever had difficulty taking it though. In response to sourpatchdarling, yes, take the spiro with food, it improves its absorption.
I don't think its a manufacturer additive. As a chemist I know that a number of different compounds have similar tastes and smells, so it could just be its composition. Also, you should eat with Spiro, because it absorbs significantly better if you are taking eat with food.
When I was taking spiro (and I wish I still was as all that hair it prevented has now returned. Blast you, lack of insurance!), I lovingly said it smelled like a minty fart. Definitely not something I enjoyed.

What was your prescription strength Mrs. Ray?? If it's the 100mg tabs, I feel your pain - but if it's 50mg (several times a day), I'd recommend Walgreens prescription plan. My old dose of 100mg (50 mg twice daily) was about $11/month...now I'm on 200mg which shoots me up to $59.94. Which makes no earthly sense to me.

Mine was 100mg twice daily. It would've cost me $90 a month!
