Talking Youuuu whooo

I thought I would take a brief moment and introduce myself. My name is Crystal. Im 30 (ugh it hurts to say that) years old. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 6 years ago but have never really taken it seriously. Reciently my husband and I decided to try to concieve again (not immediately in about 3 months or so). In an effort to improve my odds I have decided to start metformin again and increase exersize.

The problem i was having before was that I was seeing no results from taking the metformin so I just quit. I didnt see the purpose. My obgyn has a 3d ultrasound machine and he let me SEE the cyst - talk about eye opening.

So anyways Im looking forward to getting to know everyone and learning some valuable informatoin AND not feeling alone!

Crystal

Hi Crystal

My lil PCOS story is so similar to yours! I was diagnosed about 4-5yrs ago (shocking memory!) & i was so lazy with it all, always forgot to take my Metformin & just gave up completely figuring my body will just work itself out one day lol...bad idea.
I've put on at least 10-15 kilos since then & the PCOS is still around!
I've only recently gone back to the Drs to have a chat about the PCOS & he put me on a higher mg of Metformin plus a weight loss pill...i am determined to stick to both! He wanted me to take two Met a day but after almost 2weeks of only taking one a day (i wanted to get used to it) i am now (only half an hour ago!) taking two a day...

I have a 6yo daughter & am so keen to have at least one more child & the years are ticking by (28yo in November, arghhhh!) & i am now going to take it seriously coz i know i probably wont conceive if i dont...We would love another baby,we dont use BC but we do use condoms so we're the 'on & off TTC' sorta couple lol.
When people ask us if we're TTC we always say 'no,but we're not stopping it at the same time either' lol...confusing answer for some but thats just how we are.
We had a MC in 2007 & have been pretty terrified of TTC ever since, even though we're reeeeally keen for another child.
We need to put our fears aside and really try
I want to lose at least 15-20kilos first & make my body as healthy as possible for a baby to stick around for a good 9 months! lol then we'll really, seriously TTC #2.

So anywayyyy,we're very similar with our story & just thought i'd share & let you know that you've come to the right place for support & information & you're not alone

Hey! Well thats kind of the same for me. I decided I wanted to have kids sooner rather than later (am 30 next year!! eeek!!!) and my man wants to TTC in March 2010 (I am at uni so we have to make sure that if persay I was to get up the duff it wouldn't interfere with my final exams, but in saying that I am not 100% happy with being preggers as I am am finishing uni).

I lost loads of weight to help, then gained back 10kgs just this year alone by being lazy! So I am back on a diet and workout regime which is the BEST thing you can do for your body if you want to conceive, and just be healthy :O)

Best of luck for you. I would try to loose weight through eating healthy and working out first then see if the med are really necessary.

I hate to say but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who was dx years ago and didn't take it seriously!! But today was a real eye opener for me. While at my annual exam, the nurse casually asks if I have high blood pressure. I answer with no...she says "well you do now". I am 32 years old. My B/P was 140/100. Not extremely high, but it was high enough for me!! Starting now, I am going to learn how to live with this damn PCOS!!!! I'm also not good at these forums, but I plan to change that too! I just wanted to say hello to everyone and can't wait to chat!

Hi Crystal! Welcome. I have had PCOS alot longer, since I was 14, was diagnosed at around 18-19. I'm 28 now, almost 29. I guess I always take it pretty seriously, but yeah, I get at a loss as to what to do about it. I am bad and go on and off met. I actually don't see any results with it. I get frustrated. All the things in this world we can do and they can't get better options for treating PCOS. People having sex changes, really, this should be a snap. Frustration. Anyway, good luck to you! For dealing with this and TTC.
