Thread: Zinc.

    Default Zinc.

Anyone ever been told they have low zinc? Mine was low normal. Very low normal in fact, but still with in normal range. I did some reading and apparently zinc affects blood sugar levels but deficiency is usually associated with hypoglycemia, which I have. I also read that it can affect menstruation and fertility in women. So, I thought I would share. Maybe we could all try supplementing with zinc!

Have you started taking zinc at all?
I started a couple of months ago. I bought "Zinc ACE" which is zinc, vit A, C, E, B complex and copper. Says on the box "helps maintain healthy immune and reproductive systems." That's what I need! I'm noticing results on my skin already (I take flaxseed too).
    Daily:-
Just switched from Dianette to Cilest
    Spiro 75mg
    Zinc
    EPA fish oils
    1 tbsp flaxseeds, freshly ground
Pure plain Inositol 1 gram a day ***discontinued due to weight gain***
    2+ cups of spearmint tea
    Rhodiola rosea and siberian ginseng

Wow. Where did you get that from? Sounds like an awesome supplement. I've been doing some reading on zinc and have found that those vitamins/mineral are very important concerning deficiency as well as repletion. Sounds like a supplement I need!

My iron was also low normal, so I'm on supplements for that too. I've heard that it can take a while to restore iron levels but I'm having a hard time finding out how long it takes to restore zinc and to reverse the damaging affects a deficiency can have.

And yes, I have started zinc. A month ago. I don't really see much difference in how I've been feeling and I'm still a walking vaginal infection (TMI, sorry!). But my doctor seems to think that the low zinc and iron (as well as a severe vitamin D deficiency) is the cause of my chronic fatigue for over two years. Which is why I'm wondering how long repletion takes because frankly, I'm just not feeling it.

Hiya, I got it over here in Boots in the uk. It's made by Wassen. I wonder whether it is this supplement that's helping me and not just coincidence? Hmm. I'm convinced it's the supplement

As for the time it takes, for me, the difference I noticed was my skin and it took a month to 6 weeks. However, I'm not aware of having had any deficiency before, so perhaps it'll take longer for you?

Sorry to hear you're still having the vaginal infections. What a pain they are. I hope you find something that clears it up.
Have you been diagnosed with cfs? I have. My tiredness has been better recently, although I put that down to decreasing my dosage of Lexapro, which made my exhaustion 10 times worse!

I've been diagnosed with both CFS and fibromyalgia. Ugh....I just can't accept those diagnoses though. I'm hoping so much that the zinc (and the iron) is the answer and I just need to take it for a while to start seeing and feeling the difference.
