Default Zoloft Users: How long did it take for you to feel any better?

I just realised that I'm almost out of my first prescription of Zoloft.

I started with 28 days worth of 100mg per day and that runs out on Tuesday. I'm not sure I feel any different. I suppose I am a little better, I'm not crying all the time and I'm a bit calmer but I'm still feeling very tired and have indigestion (side effects of the zoloft) and there are still days when I don't want to open my curtains and face the world.

Is it a gradual, insiduous lessening of depression or should I actually be feeling different by now?

This is the first time I have taken antidepressants so it is all new to me.

Mine was gradual. I started on 50 mg in early January. By the end of February, it wan't as bad, but I still had to force myself to get up and go to work. Once I got going during the day, it was a bit better. When I went to see the doctor for my monthly check-up, we upped it to 100 mg, which is where I should be. Again, it was more gradual, but I did notice a big difference after a few weeks.

It is gradual. They say around 6-8 weeks is when you should really start feeling it. The side effects will hopefully be the same for you. I felt much much better after about 4 weeks on Zoloft but of course it is different for everyone.

I am so glad you are feeling a little better already and I hope that you continue to feel better and better.

I felt better within a week, but by no means 100%. It took 4 to 6 weeks before I just realized one day that I felt sooooo much better. But I take it for anxiety - and mine was by no means as severe as what some people here suffer. Good luck, and if Zoloft doesn't seem to be working for you don't hesitate to talk to your dr.; there are lots of other drugs that could be better for you.

It took about 5-6 weeks, but you may need to up your dose a little.

I started on 50mg a day and felt a difference in 2 weeks and then my doc upped it to 100mg after a month or so and I felt a big difference after 2 weeks on that. I was taking it for anxiety and mild depression. The only side effect I had was that I had no appetite and I lost about 20 pounds. I'm thinking of restarting again since I am having some anxiety and I wouldn't mind the weight loss.

Good luck.

It may take 6 weeks to work. If it doesn't work, don't give up, try a different antidepressant till you find one that works well for you. It's a frustrating process. I take 100 mg of zoloft bc it is the safest thing while breastfeeding but my drug of choice is effexor. I have been on several and I think zoloft has the most gradual onset. Good Luck!

About 6 weeks, most anti-depressants take that long. Afte that period of time a doctor likes to see how you are doing, whether or not they need to increase the dose or switch you to another kind.

I am starting this drug this week actually tonight I think I am pondering rather to take it at night or the day! I am so scared but my urge to feel better is winning! I have no energy and my bed clothes are on at 4:45pm I get off work at 4:30 go figure. Last night I had to entertain guest and it felt good but when I knew they were coming I was a lil upset becasue I am so much into my state of wanting to be alone (depression) maybe after I am on this medication I will want guests over all the time Is my hope!

I'm not on Zoloft, but I think all SSRI (selective Serotonine-Reuptake Inhibitors, Zoloft is one of them) take a few weeks to work and everyone says you start to gradually feel better.

I am on my 2nd week of 20 mg Prozac (took 10 mg for about a week) and I am not a lot better, but maybe a little.

Glad you are starting to feel better. Hope the side effects are going to cease and good luck. Keep us posted!

(((hugs)))

Well I've been put on repeat prescription of 100mg for three more months before reviewing.

Have to say though, I just got my AF and had no teary crying days, no mind fuddles and no feelings of being completely overwhelmed - I am getting better, very gradually I'm sure!

I just wish the indigestion would subside, lol!
